In Week 2 of this term, 16 of our year 10 students were invited to participate in the Women in Welding Program at Bracken Ridge State High School Industrial Technology and Design Faculty as part of our pathways into senior school programs (CERT 2 Engineering & CERT 1 Construction) and employment post school for the Construction, Manufacturing and Engineering Industries.
The aims of the activity was to introduce a number of our students to the skill of welding as a possible career opportunity and involve more women in actively shaping the future of the sector.
We are excited to report that the day was a huge success, and wish to thank everyone involved including:-
Mr Glen Packer - Teacher & VET Trainer
Mr Kerry Marquis - Teacher Aide
Mrs Ange Gilbert - Head of Technologies
Mr Darryl Coombs - BOC Gases
Mr Glen Sealy - Bluedog Training
The students walked away with a healthy respect for this intriguing and sometimes challenging trade, and also with a finished product of their very own making.
