Igniting a love of STEM
Earlier this year we had some super keen students from local primary schools come to experience STEM for the morning. Here at BRSHS we recognise that Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) touches every aspect of our lives, from our smartphones to the technologies that enable us to explore the world around us and outer space. It also drives innovation in our fast-changing global economy. To succeed in this environment and for
Queensland to continue to prosper into the future, our students need a strong foundation in STEM.
The visiting primary schoolers loved using the STEM skills (problem solving, creativity, curiosity, flexibility and critical thinking to make a wind powered vehicle. What might look like paper, straws, paperclips and lollies was ingenuously transformed into a vehicle. The students blew us away with their ability and engagement – we hope they enrol with us so we can expand their STEM skills further!
