The Brack-n-Deadly program seeks to provide cultural enrichment to all students, staff, families and the broader BRSHS community. This program provides opportunities to recognise success in all students, with an emphasis on achievements for First Nations students and other disadvantaged groups. For the period of the progam's 'launch' (Sem 1), the focus will be solely on First Nations students.
The Brack-n-Deadly program is being enacted as part of the school's Reconciliation Action Plan, and in response to the low attendance and retention rates of First Nations students across the country. Through recognising and celebrating the achievements of First Nations students, it is hoped that there will be a greater sense of cultural safety, and thus attendance, behaviour and retention data will improve. The Brack-n-Deadly program is aligned with the Department's focus on excellence and equity for all.
