“Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything."- Plato
Welcome to our Resource Centre. What's a Resource Centre? It's more than a library.
It's a place for students and staff to access a variety of resources from borrowing books, accessing a printer, day loan laptops and seeking IT help from the Tech Bar. The Resource Scheme office is also located within the Resource Centre. Lunchtime activities include playing board games and participating a variety of student engagement activities with staff and Resource Centre monitors.
The Resource Centre contains a number of specialist collections including manga, graphic novels and senior fiction. We aim to support the curriculum by developing a welcoming space based on David Thornburg's 4 spaces framework (2013). This means there are areas for learning from an expert including Study club, lessons and a variety of clubs run at lunchtimes (The Campfire). Social learning spaces where groups of students can play a board game and chat with friends (The Watering Hole). The study room for individual and small group reflective learning where students can work quietly (The Cave) and finally a space for making and sharing ideas (Life). We also offer a flexible learning space and a furnished outdoor courtyard.
The library cataloguing system is Infiniti which is a cloud-based catalogue that students and staff can access to browse the catalogue, make reservations, check out what's new and catch up with Resource Centre news. This is accessible in the Resource Centre at a single login kiosk.
