At Bracken Ridge State High School, we teach physical education as a
distinct area of study in its own right. The program focuses on the importance
of physical activity in the Australian lifestyle and within the local Bracken
Ridge community. The careful selection of activities and learning
experiences caters for a student population with a diverse range of
interests and abilities while encouraging them to achieve academic success.
The junior and senior programs have been designed to develop student skills
in both practical and theoretical areas of health and physical education.
Learning in, through and about physical activity is a major goal. Health and
Physical Education plays an important role encouraging engagement in lifelong
health practices and getting people involved in sport and physical education
from an early age.
In the Senor School, our students have the opportunity to
specialise in Senior Physical Education, Sport and Recreation and to complete a
Certificate II in Health Support Services and a Certificate III in Applied
Health Assistance.
