The local Chaplaincy Committee, as approved by Education Queensland, has employed one Chaplain to assist in the life of Bracken Ridge State High School.
Chaplains are available to students who want someone to talk to about personal problems in a sympathetic and sensitive environment. This service is designed to complement the existing Guidance Services within the school. The Chaplains are also available to talk with parents and other staff members.
Ryan is available four days a week to support students, staff and parents. A Chaplains role is to provide Social & Emotional support, spiritual support, mentoring, community development, educational support and extra curricular activities in the way the school communities needs. Some examples are weekly chappy brekkys, Friday fun sport, pastoral care, Isee Care food hampers.
The Chappy Room is located at the bottom of A Block, and has recently been renovated to create a more welcoming and relaxed space for students to use before school and during lunch breaks.
Ryan can be contacted on (07) 3869 7237 or at the office under ‘A’ Block during school hours.
