Bracken Ridge State High School
Physical Education and Sport Department is committed to enhancing student
development in the sporting arena.
The underlying
principle of the Football Development Squad is to provide an opportunity for
students to further develop football skills as well as complete in community
and state competitions and to represent Bracken Ridge State High School.
Bracken Ridge
State High is fortunate enough to have two qualified Football coaches (Level 2)
on staff; Mr Jon Leeming and Mr Martin Cabrera. Both of these staff members
will train this squad. Both teachers currently still play football with
registered clubs as well as coach district football teams. Jon and Martin also have Senior First Aid qualifications and will be present at all
competitions and at games.
Football is a hard, physical sport in which body
contact sometimes occurs. Training is therefore essential and all students
selected to participate in the program will train during the allocated sport
lesson (Tuesday afternoon) as well as one lunch time session and after school
session. Students will be notified of
these training times as the start of each year.
If you wish to be
considered for this development squad, please make contact with the school. At the start of each year, students
considering participating in this squad will complete a series of fitness and
skill trials. All success applicants
will be notified in writing.
‘The
football of the past we must respect; the football of today we must study; the
football of the future we must anticipate’
