What a week! This was my first Chappy week here at BRSHS and I was looking forward to getting out in the school and spending time meeting and connecting with new staff, students and community members I wouldn't normally get the chance to meet. On Monday's assembly I got the chance to speak and tell everyone about Chappy week and why we do it. I also got the opportunity to shoot a video for the community highlighting what was happening at school for the week.
Through out the week we had different activities for the students to engage in, like on Tuesday on the green we put out some games, pillows, bean bags and made the space a place to chill out and play games with each other and to chat with Chappy. I enjoyed this space I got to meet different students and start building relationships. On Tuesday afternoon, there was a staff afternoon tea that was put on to recognise what the staff do and to say thank you for what they do each day at school.
Thursday was also a great opportunity where we had some big board games out in the library courtyard. This was open to anyone who wanted to come and challenge Chappy or just come and enjoy the games and sunshine. Friday was a bit of a change of pace playing some 1v1 basketball games against students. Which was great to see so many students wanting to play and show off some skills.
Overall, the week went very well and I am looking forward to next year and to get some new fresh ideas for the next Chappy week. Thank you to everyone who helped make the week possible. We couldn't have done it without you.
