The Bracken Ridge and Nashville State High School Past Students and Staff Association is designed to keep people informed about current events and activities at the school, and to provide a base from which everyone can stay in touch.

Every week, a News Update is posted, as is a Question of the Week which invites members to share a little about their own lives, and their memories of school life.

 

Former student news

  • Former student Dee Gibbon (nee Russell) has been named in the prestiguous list of 100 Women of Influence awards. Read all about Dee in an article from a 2013 edition of the Bayside Echo newspaper.
  • Jeremy Neale school captain from 2003 has just won the “Billy Thorpe Scholarship” with a prize of $10,000.00. He also won the “Most Popular Queensland Artist” award voted by the public. Triple J has just released his E.P. titled “In Stranger Times”. As well as all this he is also in a 12 piece band called Velocitator.
  • Former student Trent Dalton is an Australian Journalist and literary fiction author. In 2018 he published the semi-autobiographical novel Boy S​wallows Universe (novel), which was longlisted for the 2019 Miles Franklin Award.

    In May 2019 the film adaptation rights for Boy Swallows Universe were won and is to be directed by Australian actor and director Joel Edgerton.

    Queensland Theatre Company developed a play from the book, its performance delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia in 2020, but later scheduled to premiere in September at the 2021 Brisbane Festival.

    In March 2022, Netflix announced to develop a limited series adaptation.​ 

  • We we incredibly lucky to have Trent return to school​ to say thanks to some of his former teachers and reminisce with community members about his time in the 4017 community. Funds raised from the night are being used to upgrade reading spaces for all BRSHS students.....more details to come soon.
